In a significant step towards establishing International Financial Centres (IFCs), President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu appointed the inaugural Governing Board of the Maldives International Financial Services Authority (MIFSA) on April 30th, 2024.
This board will be responsible for crafting the legal framework needed for IFCs and for setting up both onshore and offshore development banks. The Governing Board’s role is crucial, as they will advise and guide the Minister of Economic Development and Trade in ensuring the launch of the first Development Bank in July 2024.
